One cat infected with rabies in a Keene neighborhood led to the death of 20 others, rabies shots for three people and sparked warnings from local authorities for pet owners to have their cats vaccinated.
After one neighborhood woman was scratched by a strange-acting cat, the animal was put down and tested positive for rabies.
But another woman who had been feeding the feral cat, along with a half dozen of its brothers and sisters, had to surrender her own cats because they may have been exposed to rabies and she couldn't prove vaccination.
