Kids exposed to rabid kitten in Wellington

A stray kitten rescued Saturday, June 26th was confirmed to have rabies by the Florida State Laboratory in Lantana today. Three young children in the area of Greenview Shores and Paddock Dr. found the kitten and are being look at for possible exposure to rabies.

One of the children's parents noticed the kitten acting irrationally and called Animal Care and Control who sent it to the lab for possible rabies confirmation. At least three kids have been identified as exposed to rabies and will begin the series of rabies shots immediately.

All residents of Wellington should be alert to animals that may be acting abnormally and immediately contact Animal Care and Control.
